Missing wallet returned - after 46 years
A wallet which was lost almost half a century ago has finally been returned to its owner. When Ron Russell lost his wallet in 1962 he never reported it missing, but when it turned up during a recent sping clean it was handed into police who decided to track him down.
Officers used clues from the photos and letters in the wallet to track down the 81-year-old, a former Royal Marine who is now in a nursing home in Hull.
The wallet contained photographs of Mr Russell with two of his sons and fellow Marines, and a letter confirming his employment and salary.
There were also pictures and papers connected to his work with his local kennel club.
Mark Holland, property officer for Humberside Police, said: “It’s great to get this back to the owner because it had sentimental value.”
