Sardine ice-cream at roadside cafe?
A celebrity chef whose wacky dishes include snail porridge and sardines-on-toast will attempt to help the struggling UK roadside cafe chain Little Chef.Heston Blumenthal, who has three Michelin stars for his restaurant the Fat Duck, in Bray will try to turn around the fortunes of the chain by re-inventing their menu.
Over three one hour programmes for Channel 4 (Big Chef, Little Chef), Blumenthal will seek to revive a single, as yet unidentified, Little Chef restaurant.
Based on the results, the owners will decide whether to roll out his ideas across the whole chain.
Sue Murphy, Channel 4's head of features, said: "Nothing is safe. It will be a complete opportunity for reinvention."
According to her Blumenthal was "personally quite nostalgic" for Little Chef's glory days and "wouldn't be coming at it from a sneering perspective," she added.
