Watching HDTV can help fight depression

Psychologists claim watching HD TV can help beat the winter blues and improves the psychological well being of viewers.

They say programmes with vivid, bright and sharply defined colours are able to 'lift our spirits and energise us.'

Donna 'renowned psychologist' Dawson - who is in no way influenced by the fact she is working for Sky TV - even suggests surround sound releasing endorphins improve your concentration.

While watching the football your new shiny high-definition TV might make you feel better, it will only last until your wife finds out how much the Sky Sports package is costing.

Donna Dawson said: "Colour research reveals bright colours lift your mood and help the viewer to feel more positive, excited, happy or relaxed.

"By watching an uplifting film or intense sport event in high definition, fed up viewers can enjoy the invigorating roar of a stadium crowd in their living room, or a bit of escapism by transported to the setting of a far away exotic nature documentary."

Sky+HD have even produced a "Happier Days TV Guide" based on the 'psychological research' where each show is assigned an emotion-rating icon explaining how it can benefit a viewer.

We are not sure how much watching Mr Bean can cheer anyone up.
