Brits eat takeaways while watching soaps
Most Brits order a takeaway at a time so it arrives just before the start of their favorite soap, research has found.6.50pm is said to be a peak time for people ordering a Indian, Chinese or Pizza with the delivery time meaning it arrives just as EastEnders or Coronation Street begins.
A survey of over 1,200 people found that 62 percent of takeaway lovers admitted to watching their favourite soap whilst eating.
Those in the North West (71 percent) were the most likely to time their order with a soap opera, closely followed by those in the North East (67 percent).
Anyone else noticing a pattern here? And where did they go to survey them, these sound like the type of people who spend 95 percent of their time in front of the TV.
A spokesperson for Just-Eat.co.uk who commissioned the research said: "Despite obviously being dinner-time or thereabouts, the fact that the order-time average was an odd 6.50pm sparked our researchers to question why this could have been.
"The results of our customer research clearly show that families are much more likely to eat together whilst watching soaps rather than sit down together around a dining table, so I think it’s safe to assume a correlation of the two.
"Who would have thought it – Eastenders causes you to crave takeaway food!"
