Heinz wants duty free baked beans at airports
Holidaymakers could soon be able to stock up on traditional comfort foods like Heinz baked beans, tomato ketchup and tomato soup at the airport.Until now travellers who can't bare to miss out on beans on toast have had to pack the heavy items in their main luggage where airlines have strict weight limits.
But Heinz are currently in talks with World Duty Free to sell its products in airport duty free shop - making them available in departures or arrivals.
The move came after 21 percent of British holiday-makers admitted they missed traditional comfort foods when faced with more exotic dishes while abroad.
Many even admitted to taking their own sauces on holiday… making the average bottle of tomato ketchup better travelled than owners.
To cure holidaymakers’ home comfort blues, Heinz has also set up a special room at the arrivals lounge at Gatwick’s South Terminal. Resembling a giant Heinz can, the lounge features some of the household brand’s most iconic products and is designed to provide travellers with the comforting feeling of home the moment they touchdown on British soil.
