Whale befriended record paddle-board surfer
A surfer who was setting a standup paddle record couldn't believe her eyes when a 30ft whale swam alongside her for two hours.Jodie Nelson had been making the record breaking 40 mile journey from Catalina Island to the California coastline in a bid to raise money for charity.
During the nine hour journey on her 14ft board she was joined by a 30-foot minke whale which swan with her for around two hours.
Jodie says she gave the whale the name 'Larry' and started talking to him as a way of keeping her sane… said the person talking to a whale.
But Jodie is glad the whale showed up, she says the publicity it gained meant her sponsorship jumped from $9,000 to $125,000 (if you are feeling generous there is a link below).LINKS
