Damien Hirst taxi tip doodle could sell for £5,000

275x250.jpg A sketch which Damien Hirst gave to a taxi driver as a tip for a £20 journey could be worth £5,000, experts believe.

The controversial artist drew the picture (above) for cabbie Jon Horsley during a 30 minute trip from Chelsea Harbour to Mayfair 18 months ago.

Was the pair chatted they discovered they shared interest in comic illustrations and  Hirst began doodling the shark and diamond skull - two of his most famous works.

The drawing is now set to be sold at auction where it could sell for £5,000… meaning Damien Hirst will never have to wait more than 15 seconds for a cab ever again.
Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions will sell the drawing on 21 April and while it was originally valued at £1,500 it is now believed it could sell for £5,000.

Measuring 29.5cm x 41cm the pencil on paper work has the words 'For LJ. Don't give up on the art' written above the drawing to Horsley's son who is studying for an art GCSE.

Horsley says it is the best tip he has been given in 15 years of working as a cab driver.
