Jelly Bean artist creates sweet-tasting art works
Artist Malcolm West uses Jelly Bean sweets to create stunning mosaics which critics are just to their taste. Each portrait uses thousands of the little sweets which carefully sorted by colour before being glued into place.
Malcolm say each of his portraits - which include The Queen, Madonna, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis - can take a week of eight hour days to complete.
That's because he even goes to the effort of making sure that Jelly Belly logo is facing out from the canvas on every single bean.
He's been producing the Jelly Bean art for over 10 years… a fact his dentist can attest to.
Speaking of his work Malcolm, from Hersham, Surrey, said: "It is very long and laborious and quite painstaking, but like most things in the art world, you only see the glossy side once it goes in the galleries. "I enjoy it in retrospect, but at the time when faced with the job it is a big task."
"By the end of it you feel a bit sick after nibbling on a few beans for eight hours a day. My favourite flavour is liquorice."
