Valentine's Day activities cancelled in Uzbekistan

275x250.jpg Kill-joy authorities in Uzbekistan have reportedly placed an unofficial ban  Valentine's Day and romance-themed activities on February 14th.

Uzbekistan is said to have cancelled a series of events which had been planned to celebrate Valentine's Day.

As such residents in the capital city of Tashkent will no longer be able to attend outdoor concerts but instead listen to readings of poems by 16th century Mughal emperor Babur.

The predominantly Muslim country has a long-standing dislike of Valentine's Day and last year a national newspaper described it as "the product of forces with evil goals bent on putting an end to national values".

What do you think is behind the unofficial Valentine's Day ban? Our guess is a civil servant with a hopeless love life.
