Quirkies: Dean Maynard
By PoyntonDean Maynard thinks he is psychic, he claims that for the past eight years he has been able to bring good luck to those around him.
Since a young age Dean has been interested in all things paranormal, he studies ghost stories and hauntings and he attends weekend investigations into spooky goings on with other enthusiasts.
When Dean is not investigating the paranormal he sends out press releases about himself and his abilities.
Some of Deans “successes” include helping David Beckham get back into the England team after moving to LA Galaxy and backing Leona Lewis to win X-Factor,
He does not consider the contributing factors such as England's inability to produce quality footballers.
The man known as 'Midas' says it all began wen he was a nine-year-old watching the Grand National.
"Earlier that day my dad jokingly asked me for my tip for the famous Grand National 'for a bit of fun'," he says on his website
"Without any hesitation I picked Aldaniti, the horse's name just seem to jump out of the page, later that day it won."
Now Dean says he has an uncanny ability, not only to pick winners, but to help the people he picks to win.
In the spring of 2005 he says he was contacted by fans of Sunderland Football Club - they had gone several games without a win and players claimed to have seen a ghost at the training ground.
After a bizarre series of events which saw all three goalkeepers injured, missed penalties and more losses Dean pledged his support on a BBC radio phone-in ... and they won.
Dean was suddenly in demand, he was contacted by fans of sporting teams around the world including Chicago White Sox (they went on to win the World Series) Reading FC (just 2 Losses in 46 matches) and Rugby League side Wigan Warriors (won 9 from 10 and didn't get relegated)
He then backed Leona Lewis to win the X Factor and David Beckham to get back into the England squad, both happened.
Last year he backed Nikki Evans to win X Factor but despite her coming fourth Dean does not see this as a failure, "Niki finished 4th and I was so proud and honoured that Niki and her family had backed me, it meant alot, they also left a personal thank you message on her site," he tells fans on his site.
Dean's motto "Generate positive energy, and positive energy comes back to you."
