Gadgets: Shuttle X50 PC
By Jay GarrettHello my gadget loving people and happy Thursday to y'all!
A quick round up of gadgety stuff that's happened since last we met:
I suppose the biggest news, for iPhone owners at least, this week is the 3.0 OS update that will finally bring us MMS and Cut/Copy and Paste amongst other things!
More interestingly is the possibility that this is all in preparation for a hardware update in Summer – iPhone 2.1 anyone?
If you fancy getting yourself a real convertible for the warm months howdya fancy the Terrafugia Transition carplane? It went out on its maiden flight this month and is ready for preorder.
Googlemaps has outdone itself by giving us GoogleMars! Yup, you can look for drunken Martians and proof that there is in fact life on the red planet.
Sometimes you have to feel sorry for the tech-makers.
It's getting more and more difficult for manufacturers to do something different with their netbooks and nettops (the desktop version).
But Shuttle have dared to be different.
They have the X50 - a touchscreen nettop that has one added extra.
It has a handle!
Ok, so the Windows XP machine looks like the result of a drunken union 'twixt a lunchbox and a briefcase but it's carryable, wall mountable and stand-upable thanks to that handle which doubles as a stand.
Specwise it has a 15.6-inch, 16×9 touchscreen, a dual core Atom 330 processor, 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, 802.11n Wi-Fi, memory card reader, 1.3MP camera and no less than five USB ports.
It was supposed to be out this month for $499 but it seems to have been delayed.
I think it's pretty cool – what do reckon?
