Gadgets: 3D Gaming Comes to UK

Wow!  What a week.

There's actual real personal jet-packs coming on the market, robotic panda bartenders tell you when you should stop drinking, drivers have their speed managed via satellite, and motorbikes are powered by air!

It's the future – now!

In Apple-flavoured areas: The WWDC date and keynote time has been announced as well as some of the new  iPhone specs being leaked.

There's also been a couple of great things for fans of building things of plastic bricks.

Yup – LEGO has inspired a funky lamp as well as some rather cool shades.

Talking about groovy glasses - NVIDIA are bringing some special specs to the UK.

NVIDIA 3D Vision is a very clever way to bring some fabby 3D tech to your PC gaming without having to buy a dedicated screen.

It’s all achieved by hooking up a set of wireless 3D eyewear to an infra-red transmitter. Then you  sprinkle in some software smarts that gets your monitor slinging two different pictures at the same time to your peepers so that you don’t get any flicker and before you can shout “INCOMING!!!” you're in the zone.

With the NVIDIA 3D Vision goggles strapped on you’ll get depth perception in PC games which will be particularly useful and fun, if not a little scary, for first-person shooters.

All you really have to do is to make sure that your puter is rocking Vista and a compatible graphics card.

Oh, you’ll also need a PC monitor that’s 120Hz – if you are lacking said device you can always buy the bundled pack that comes with a Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ for £399 or use a suitable HDTV.

I'm scared just thinking of what Left4Dead would be like to play in 3D

~shudder~.
