Gadgets: Writing on the crest of a Wayve

It's been a Googley week since we last met.

HTC's Magic has been released, Android 1.5 (or Cupcake) has also been unleashed and most recently Bigfoot (that's the G1 v.2) has been leaked via T-Mobile's roadmap.

The other software story of note is that Microsoft 7 Release Candidate 1 is now available for all to download for free and most feedback has been good.

The Sun's Page 3 Models have helped uncover the fact that parental controls are coming to iPhone's 3.0 os.
Polaroid has officially returned to the UK with the Polaroid Two, also known as PoGo with it's in-built Zink printer.

You may, or may not be aware that Amazon have gone and released the not-so-secret larger screened Kindle – the Kindle DX.  The announcement was kinda ruined by Amazon actually placing all the details, including the price and full spec, on their site before it became 'official'.

There’s a Microsoft funded team in the UK developing a Wi-Fi device that combines the office-gold that is the Post-it note with its own Social Network service called Wayve.

It kinda looks like a digital photo frame but it's packing a touchscreen that allows you to write messages in a 'sticky note’ stylee to remind family members to feed the plants or water the cat.

As well as leaving messages or sketching ‘amusing’ drawings you’ll be able to tap in notes via an onscreen keyboard – of course if you prefer to actually write, you have the option to let the software attempt to convert the scrawl into text.

Once you’ve sketched or written your stuff you’ll then be able to send it to anyone who’s got a mobile phone as an MMS or save it for the house to see when they get in.

Not so handy in the drawing department? Just take a snap with the built-in camera with that empty milk carton AGAIN and write a fitting message over the pic just to get your point across.

The device doesn’t handle video yet but a spokesperson working on the device didn’t rule this out for future video messages..

No word on a date for release apart from “mid 2009” and the prices for one is £150 or if you buy two you'll get them for £99 each.  You'll have a choice of Pay As You Go or a Message Plan.

You can sign up for more info or pre-order at Wayve.com
